This site aims to introduce you to our association, its activities, to share our passion.
The Aeroclub du Quercy is organized into two section "airplane" and 'ultralight".
The aircraft is primarily a school of rigor, discipline, self-control (or cool) and reponsability. From the age of 15 years, before being eligible to drive a car, you can take the controls of an airplane. Under the supervision of an instructor, the first flihgts take place near the aerodrome Cahors-Lalbenque to acquire the technique of flying. After a regulatory minimum of 6 hours (generaly around twenty hours depending on your progress), themself can fly on board the aircraft on which you were trained in a 30 km radius around the aerodrome, outside the spaces controled or regulated. At the age of 17, he can spend hid privite pilot license (PPL) and them take your passengers to visit France or others countries.
The scenery is so beautiful from above !... Around Cahors of course you can see from above the city as a loop of the lot as well as sites like the Valley of the Lot and Cele, Saint-Cirq Lapopie, Milande's Castle (Josephine Baker), the Gorges of the Aveyron ou Tarn those... and many others superb sites (the area is dead for beautiful walks). Since the aerodrome Cahors-Lalbenque, it is nothing easier than to spend a day at the beach or mountain. The pilots of the flying club and their passangers can in 1 hour reached the Atlantic coast (Arcachon, Oleron Island, mouth of the Gironde,...) or, if the weather is bad on that side, to reached Mediterranean coast, or prefer the Pyrenees Montains or Monts of Auvergne. The multitude of fields of France (on average one every 50 kilomters) just waiting to welcome the aircraft and their pilotes and passengers.
Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to be "rich" to give happiness to move in three dimensions over all these beauties. Number of members of the flying club have incomes barely above the minimum wage and have made choices and are persistent in their ambition ti fly, to have fun (the joy of a pilot over beautiful landscapes, have managed a good landing, a somewhat difficult maneuver, precision navigation,... is huge !). After the livense, the average expenditure per year per pilot can be estimated at € 1500.
